2. Scope and website use

These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of our website, customer accounts and all orders placed through printer-cartridges.co.uk.

Additional policies may apply, including our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, delivery information, returns information, product guarantees and promotion-specific terms.

You must not:

  • Use the website fraudulently or unlawfully.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another customer’s account.
  • Introduce viruses, malicious code or other harmful material.
  • Interfere with the security or operation of the website.
  • Place false, speculative or fraudulent orders.
  • Extract or commercially reuse website content without our permission.

We may suspend or restrict the website where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal compliance or the protection of our customers. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, although we take reasonable steps to keep the website operational.

3. Customer accounts

You may be able to create an account to manage orders, delivery addresses, saved printers and other preferences.

You are responsible for:

  • Providing complete and accurate information.
  • Keeping your login details and password confidential.
  • Updating details that are no longer accurate.
  • Informing us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

We may suspend or close an account where we reasonably believe it is being used fraudulently, unlawfully or in breach of these Terms and Conditions.

4. Products and compatibility

We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, specifications, compatibility information, images and prices are accurate. Product packaging or appearance may change, and images are illustrative unless expressly stated otherwise.

Checking compatibility

You are responsible for checking that a product is suitable for your printer before ordering. Please check:

  • The full printer manufacturer and model number.
  • The cartridge or consumable code currently used by the printer.
  • Whether the required item is ink, toner, a drum, an imaging unit or another maintenance item.
  • Any regional or printer-version restrictions shown on the product page.

Some printers use separate toner cartridges and drum units. Ordering a toner when the printer requires a drum, or vice versa, does not mean that the supplied product is faulty.

Please contact us before ordering if you are unsure. If we recommend an incorrect product after you have supplied complete and accurate printer information, we will provide an appropriate remedy and cover reasonable return costs where the error was ours.

5. Genuine and compatible products

Our website may sell genuine manufacturer products and compatible, remanufactured or third-party products.

A genuine product is manufactured, licensed or supplied under the relevant printer manufacturer’s brand.

A compatible product is manufactured or prepared by a third party for use with the stated printer or cartridge range. Compatible products are not manufactured by, sponsored by or affiliated with the original printer manufacturer unless expressly stated.

Product pages will identify the product type. References to printer manufacturers, printer models and cartridge codes are used to identify compatibility.

6. Orders and contract formation

When you submit an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your basket. An automatic order acknowledgement confirms that we have received your order but does not necessarily mean that we have accepted it.

A binding contract is formed when we send a dispatch confirmation or dispatch the products, whichever happens first.

Orders remain subject to:

  • Product availability.
  • Payment authorisation.
  • Fraud and security checks.
  • Verification of prices and product information.
  • Acceptance by us.

We may refuse or cancel an order before acceptance if a product is unavailable, payment cannot be authorised, delivery information is incomplete, we reasonably suspect fraud, there is an obvious pricing error, or accepting the order would breach a legal requirement.

If we cannot accept an order after taking payment, we will refund the affected amount.

7. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Consumer prices include VAT where applicable unless clearly stated otherwise.

Delivery charges and other mandatory charges will be displayed before you submit your order. The total amount payable will be shown at checkout.

We take reasonable care to ensure prices are correct. If an obvious pricing error is discovered before acceptance, we may contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed at the correct price or cancel the order and refund any payment.

You must use a payment method that you are authorised to use. Payments may be processed by secure third-party payment providers. Available payment methods will be shown at checkout.

8. Stock availability

Stock information is an indication and may change before an order is accepted. Placing a product in your basket does not reserve it.

If a product becomes unavailable, we may:

  • Contact you with an estimated availability date.
  • Offer a suitable alternative, which you are free to decline.
  • Cancel and refund the unavailable item.
  • Cancel and refund the complete order where appropriate.

We will not substitute a materially different product without your agreement.

9. Delivery, risk and ownership

Available delivery services, charges and destinations will be displayed on our website or at checkout.

Delivery estimates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed unless we expressly agree a specific delivery date. Consumer orders will be delivered without undue delay and normally within 30 days of the contract being formed, unless a different delivery period is agreed.

You are responsible for supplying a complete and accurate delivery address. Additional charges may apply if an order must be sent again because the address supplied was incorrect or the parcel was not collected.

Where you authorise a delivery company to leave a parcel in a safe place, with a neighbour or at another nominated location, delivery to that location may be treated as delivery to you.

Risk and ownership

For consumers, responsibility for the products passes when they come into your physical possession or the possession of a person identified by you. Ownership passes once we have received payment in full and the products have been delivered.

Products from the same order may arrive in separate parcels or from separate fulfilment locations.

10. Consumer cancellation rights

This section applies when you purchase as a consumer for purposes wholly or mainly outside your trade, business, craft or profession.

You normally have 14 days after the day you receive the products to cancel an online order without giving a reason. Where products from one order are delivered separately, the cancellation period normally begins when the final product is received.

You must tell us clearly that you wish to cancel before the 14-day period expires. You may use the model cancellation form at the end of this page, but you are not required to do so.

Email: customerservice@printer-cartridges.co.uk

Post: Hexagon House, Grimbald Crag Close, Knaresborough, HG5 8PJ

Telephone: 01423 864992

After notifying us, you must return the products without undue delay and no later than 14 days after the date you told us you were cancelling.

Exceptions

Cancellation rights do not apply in every situation. Legal exceptions may include products made to your specification, clearly personalised products, sealed software once unsealed, products inseparably mixed with other items, and other goods excluded by applicable consumer legislation.

These exceptions do not remove your rights where a product is faulty, damaged or not as described.

11. Returns and refunds

Returning an unwanted product

Unless the product is faulty, damaged, misdescribed or incorrect because of our error, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning it. You remain responsible for the product until it is received by us.

Please package returns securely and obtain proof of posting. We recommend an insured or tracked service for higher-value items.

Handling and opened consumables

You may inspect a product in the same way you reasonably could in a shop. We may reduce a refund to reflect a reduction in value caused by handling beyond what was reasonably necessary to establish the product’s nature, characteristics and functioning.

Opening retail packaging does not automatically remove your cancellation rights. However, opening, installing or using an ink cartridge, toner cartridge or other consumable may reduce its resale value. Where legally permitted, a reasonable deduction may be made to reflect that reduction.

Refund timing

For a valid consumer cancellation, we will refund the product price and the cost of our least expensive standard delivery service, where applicable. Additional amounts paid for premium delivery are not normally refundable.

We may withhold the refund until we have received the products or you provide evidence that they have been returned. Refunds will normally be made within 14 days of that point using the original payment method.

Returns procedure

Please contact us before returning a product. We may provide a returns address, authorisation number, prepaid label where appropriate, packaging instructions or troubleshooting assistance.

Do not send products to a manufacturer, supplier or another address unless we instruct you to do so.

12. Faulty, damaged or incorrect products

We are legally required to supply products that are of satisfactory quality, fit for their normal purpose and as described.

If a product is faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, contact us as soon as reasonably possible. Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.

Consumers may have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days of delivery. After that period, you may normally request a repair or replacement before seeking a price reduction or final refund, subject to applicable law.

Damaged or incomplete deliveries

Please retain the product and packaging and, where possible, provide:

  • Photographs of the outer packaging and delivery label.
  • Photographs of the damaged or incorrect product.
  • Details of missing items.
  • Your order number.

Prompt reporting helps us investigate with the delivery provider but does not remove or limit your statutory rights.

13. Cartridge troubleshooting

Printer and print-quality problems can be caused by issues other than a defective cartridge, including installation, protective seals, blocked print heads, printer settings, separate drum or imaging units, printer maintenance, software or firmware.

To identify the problem and provide the quickest suitable solution, we may ask you to complete reasonable troubleshooting and provide:

  • The complete printer model.
  • The cartridge or consumable code.
  • The printer error message.
  • Photographs of the cartridge and packaging.
  • A print-quality test page.
  • The printer firmware version, where relevant.
  • Confirmation of installation and troubleshooting steps completed.

Reasonable troubleshooting does not affect your statutory rights or prevent you from obtaining a legal remedy for a faulty product.

14. Guarantees and warranties

Products may include a manufacturer warranty, a commercial guarantee provided by us or a warranty provided by another supplier.

The applicable guarantee will be described on the product page, product packaging or a separate guarantee page. Commercial guarantees are provided in addition to your legal rights and do not replace or restrict them.

A commercial warranty may exclude problems caused by:

  • Accidental damage or misuse.
  • Improper storage or installation.
  • Modification of the product.
  • Use outside its stated operating conditions.
  • A printer fault or another printer component.
  • Normal wear and tear where relevant.

Compatible cartridges and printer warranties

The use of a compatible cartridge does not by itself remove legal obligations owed to you by the seller or manufacturer of your printer. Printer manufacturers may, however, investigate whether a particular fault was caused by a third-party product.

If you believe one of our products has caused damage to a printer, stop using it and contact us promptly. Keep the product, packaging and damaged components so that we have a reasonable opportunity to investigate.

15. Promotions and discount codes

Promotions and discount codes may be subject to additional conditions shown with the relevant offer.

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

  • Only one code may be used per order.
  • A code must be entered before checkout is completed.
  • Codes cannot be applied retrospectively.
  • Promotions have no cash value.
  • Delivery charges may not count towards a minimum spend.
  • Excluded products or brands may apply.
  • Offers apply only during the stated period and while stocks last.

We may refuse or cancel promotional use where we reasonably believe an offer has been used fraudulently, dishonestly or contrary to its published conditions. This does not affect an order already validly accepted unless fraud or another lawful reason applies.

16. Business customers

A business customer is a person or organisation buying wholly or mainly for business purposes. Consumer cancellation rights do not apply to business purchases.

Returns of non-faulty business purchases are subject to our agreement and any business returns policy stated on the website.

Where we approve a credit account, separate credit terms may apply, including credit limits, invoice due dates, late-payment interest and suspension of further supplies while an account is overdue.

Business customers are responsible for checking product compatibility and suitability for their intended commercial use.

Please insert any agreed business account provisions here before offering invoice or credit facilities:

17. Our liability

Consumers

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or breach of your statutory rights.

We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable.

Products supplied to consumers are intended primarily for domestic and private use unless stated otherwise. We are not responsible for business losses suffered by a consumer, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or business interruption.

Business customers

Subject to liabilities that cannot legally be excluded, we will not be liable to a business customer for loss of profit, revenue, anticipated savings, opportunity, business, data, goodwill or any indirect or consequential loss.

Subject to applicable law, our total liability arising from a business order will not exceed the total price paid for the products giving rise to the claim.

18. Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, fire, flooding, industrial disputes, transport or supply-chain disruption, import delays, epidemics, power or telecommunications failure, government action, or supplier and delivery-company failures caused by such events.

We will take reasonable steps to reduce the effects of the event and resume performance as soon as reasonably possible. Where an event significantly delays a consumer order, you may have the right to cancel and receive a refund.

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Our website uses cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy and cookie controls.

You may use the website for personal shopping and legitimate business purchasing. You must not reproduce, republish, sell, license, scrape, distribute or commercially exploit website content without our prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

21. Complaints and disputes

We aim to resolve complaints fairly and promptly. Please contact us and provide your name, order number, a clear description of the issue, the outcome you are seeking and any relevant supporting information.

We prefer to resolve disputes directly. If a consumer dispute cannot be resolved through our complaints process, you may seek independent advice from Citizens Advice or another appropriate consumer advice service.

We are not required to participate in an alternative dispute resolution procedure unless the law requires us to do so or we expressly agree to use a particular provider.

22. General terms and governing law

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions to reflect changes to our business, website, products, fulfilment arrangements or applicable law. The terms applying to an order will normally be those available when the order was placed.

Severability

If any provision is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, it will be treated as removed or limited to the minimum extent necessary. The remaining provisions will continue in effect.

Waiver

A delay or failure to enforce a right does not mean that right has been waived.

Third-party rights

Unless expressly stated, no person other than you and us has a right to enforce the contract under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

Governing law

These Terms and Conditions and contracts formed through the website are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may normally bring proceedings in their local courts or the courts of England and Wales. For business customers, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction unless otherwise agreed in writing.
